OVERVIEW

Redefining the person-to-person payment experience

Provide an alternative for quick payments between people when cash or credit/debit card payments are not an option.

Allow customers to leverage the information they already have to perform or request money transactions.

The Challenge

Transactions are sometimes complex and require multiple banking details, which can be a hurdle for customers, particularly for on-the-go situations and small direct payments. Online bank transfers and transactions are not always an option, especially when a computer is not available or when you don’t have the receiver’s account number.

My main challenge as Lead UX designer was to figure out a way in which people can send and receive money in a straightforward, and seamless way, eliminating the need to access a computer or a recipient’s banking details.

The Process

The UX Design Team defined potential customers and we created personas based on different contexts of use. I led the user research, interviews, and shadow sessions of customers to understand how users do money transactions.

By collecting inputs from multiple sources, the UX team was able to balance different perspectives and brainstorm opportunities to tackle the challenge.

Our goal was to understand the ways in which different kinds of users do money transactions.

The Solution

Using the available information, we designed a mobile app that uses existing contacts’ details to start the banking transactions, minimizing the complexity of the process.

Taking into account our users’ interviews, we also included a payment request feature, helping them collect money from others.
